Borderlands 4 (BL4): Marcus Bobblehead Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Marcus Bobbleheads are the most abundant and exploration-demanding collectible in Borderlands 4 — over 230 miniature figurines of iconic arms dealer Marcus Kincaid hidden across every area of Kairos.

Unlike other collectibles, Bobbleheads reward you with 100 XP every time you flick one, and they reset on reload — making them the only repeatable XP source in the game and an exceptional early and mid-game levelling tool.

Every confirmed Bobblehead location is tracked at exact coordinates on the interactive Borderlands 4 maps, with traversal routes and mission prerequisites noted per entry.

What Makes Marcus Bobbleheads Unique

Marcus Bobbleheads are the only collectible in Borderlands 4 with three properties that set them apart from everything else:

  • Repeatable: Flick a Bobblehead, reload, return, and flick it again. Every Bobblehead resets after a period of time, giving 100 XP each visit — infinitely. A single sweep of a Bobblehead-dense area like Cuspid Climb or Ruined Sumplands can yield several thousand XP.

  • Completely untracked: No Bobblehead appears on the in-game map, mini-map, or compass — before or after interaction. The game provides zero navigation assistance for finding them. An external resource tracking their exact coordinates is the only viable way to hunt them systematically.

  • Not required for completion: Bobbleheads don't count toward any area's 100% completion percentage. They are purely optional — a reward for dedicated exploration and a levelling tool for players who seek them out.

The Origin: Randy Pitchford's Map

Marcus Bobbleheads are a collectible type new to Borderlands 4, personally championed by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, who shared a crude overview map of Bobblehead locations on X in July 2025 — weeks before the game launched.

That post sparked a wave of community mapping efforts, confirming the scale of the hunt and giving early explorers a rough guide to the density across each region. The in-game description of each Bobblehead pays tribute to Marcus's role as the franchise's storyteller.

How to Find and Flick a Bobblehead

When within reach of a Bobblehead, the interact prompt displays as Flick rather than the standard pickup prompt. Pressing the interact button flicks the Bobblehead's head and triggers the 100 XP reward.

The Bobblehead remains in place — it is not collected or removed — and resets after leaving the area and returning, or after reloading a save.

Most Bobbleheads require the grapple hook, Glide Pack, or both to reach. They appear on rooftops, the ends of crane arms, cliff ledges, pipe structures, inside caves reached by gliding from above, inside hidden rooms behind grapple-removable lids, and at the tips of the highest terrain features in each area.

Some require Order Silo ziplines to reach their platforms — unlock the relevant silo first before attempting those positions. A small number are behind locked areas requiring specific Side Mission completion to access.

Area Distribution

The majority of Bobbleheads are concentrated in the open world regions:

  • Idolator's Noose and Coastal Bonescape hold the largest Fadefields clusters — many placed on the coastal cliffs and Order installations requiring grapple and glide traversal
  • Ruined Sumplands is the densest single area in Carcadia Burn — 15+ Bobbleheads spread across the region's ruined towers, cranes, and tall structures
  • Cuspid Climb holds the largest Terminus Range concentration — 20+ across the mountain's Order bases, excavation sites, and elevated terrain
  • Carcadia District leads Dominion City's count, which totals approximately 15 across all three districts combined
